Current Events:

I have been doing some thinking and I've come to the conclusion that I need to take a temporary break from book blogging. NOTE: Any tour stops that I've committed to will be honored. I have decided that I want to combine my love of books, blogging, knitting, movies digital photography and life in general into 1 blog so that I don't feel so overwhelmed. Right now I feel like my book blogging is a job, I already have one of those. My plan is to come back in the near future with a new blog and a new plan.

Q. Circle time! Time to share. What character in a book would you most like to be, what character in a book would you most like to date?

A.  a. I think the character in a book that I most would like to be is Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games trilogy.  In the beginning of the series she pretty much sticks to the straight and narrow even though she has moments where she gets off the beaten path and by the end of the series she's this strong powerful woman who is the leader of a whole movement.

     b. The character that I would most like to date? Ummmmm.....I think any of the brothers from the
Black Dagger Brotherhood fit the answer to this part of the question.  It doesn't hurt that they seem
to be card carrying members of the "gifted and talented" club.  Who wouldn't want to take any of
them into a dark corner and have there wicked way with them?

"Which book blogger would you most like to meet in real life?"
This one is easy for me.  I would LOVE to meet Kristi from The Story Siren, The Book Vixen from The Book Vixen, JuJu from Tales of Whimsy and Parajunkee from Parajunkee's View.  Each one of these bloggers have blogs that I get very excited to read and they always have new and interesting content.  Plus, they are bloggers that I have followed from the beginning!

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Book Blogger HopThe Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy-For-Books.com.  This weeks question is:

"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

This particular blog has gone through three name changes but I think I'm going to stick with Jamie's Bookshelf. Cause it's me (Jamie) and my bookshelf.

Q. Share your current fav television show! Tell us a bit about it...

My current favorite show is Deadliest Catch.  It's about Alaskan crab fishing and all the trials and tribulations that goes along with battling Mother Nature and the Bering Sea.

"Why do you read the genre that you do?  What draws you to it?"

I like to read a LOT of different genre's....I like to keep my options open and I'm pretty much always open to learning new things.  But right now the genre that is really tripping my trigger is YA.  It just sucks me in!

What makes up your non-human family??

I have 2 dogs, Gus and Laci (who you can see in my blog header at The Book Junkie's Bookshelf) and 2 $.28 feeder goldfish that refuse to die...that's ok too.  I enjoy feeding them.

GIVEAWAYS LISTED AT THE BOTTOM!
Book Blogger Hop

"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"

I was really lukewarm on Radiance.  It just didn't live up to all the good reviews I had read on it through out the book blog community.

What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby??

For me I like to watch movies, cook, travel (I REALLY want to go to Ireland!) and use my digital camera.  I also like to snuggle in my nice warm bed with my two dogs Augusta ("Gus) and Laci.

I have a couple of giveaways going on too!

What is your favorite Cover?

It doesn't get released until May but so far the cover for Chain Reaction is really floating my boat.

Book Blog Hops!

The question for this week is:

How long have you been book blogging??

I've only blogging on this particular blog for about a month or so.  I'm still trying to get the hang of how I want things around here on this particular blog.

Book Blogger Hop

The question for this week is: "Since Thanksgiving is coming up next week, let's use this week's Hop to share what we are most thankful for and what our holiday traditions are!"
I'm thankful for this great blogging community.  I sometimes do a lot of bitching here on The Book Junkie's Bookshelf when I don't understand something about our community and there are always bloggers out there who are willing to put their perspective out there for me to read.

Family wise....I'm thankful that my brother's wedding went off with out any problems. We have a few people in our family who are "Wild Cards" and we were a little bit worried.  I'm not really sure what the plan holds for the actual Thanksgiving Day but I know there's TONS of yumminess headed my way!

The question of the week: What is your usual monthly book budget?

Honestly, I really should have a book budget but I don't.  Also, recently I've put myself on a self induced book buying ban until I get the number of books on my bookshelf down to a manageable number.  Meaning NOT overflowing and NO under the bed box full of books as well.

This weeks question is: "If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

No, not always.  There are some series that I do because it just makes sense (like The Black Dagger Brotherhood novels).  I mean you read about 1 sexy Vamp and you want to read about the rest of them right?!  I did start the Mercy Thompson series with the 3rd book instead of the first book...that was a little weird.

This week's question is: "What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

I have in the past stopped following blogs.  Generally, I like to follow a variety of blogs and I try to comment on as many of them as possible.  But as of this post I already follow 216 blogs, so it's harder to comment on all of the blogs.

I've got this new mindset with the addition of this blog and my romance review blog that I'm not going to blog for followers.  I've done it in the past with The Bookshelf but I found that it kind of sucks the fun out of blogging if you do it that way.  As for losing followers, I try not to dwell on it too much.  I'm still in the process of getting this blog and Nitty Gritty up and running so I consider them my Works In Progress.

The question for this week is: Who are your favorite authors??

My favorite authors are Jane Austen (you can't go wrong with the classics), Cassandra Clare, and Jackie Morse Kessler to name 3.

Friday Blog Hops #1

The question for this week is: "What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost?"

Honestly, I would love to have one of those new NookColor e-reader's but I'm really happy with the one that I have.  I just need to get a new battery for it.  It get's a LOT of use.

The question for this week is:

If you have, or would have a daughter, what book would you want your daughter to read?

This one is easy peasy for me.  I would want my daughter to books like Little Women, The Little House on the Prairie books, Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys, Where The Red Fern Grows (one of my favorites and I cry everytime!).  There are so many that it's hard to narrow it down to just one or two!
